Cancer – Mind – Ankles: OCEAN

Our vision of the ocean is limited to the waves that break on its shores or wash up on its beaches, to the fishing boats that arrive at ports full of fish, to the regattas of sailing ships, or to impressive images of violent storms… But the ocean is an immense world, both near and distant, which we know little about, and which holds many mysteries, and whose hard-to-measure riches are indispensable for life on Earth. Poets, scientists, political leaders, industrialists, economists, tourists: all are attracted by these immense expanses of water in perpetual motion.

Everyone finds in the seas and oceans they frequent what makes them dream or interests them, but it is also very important to feel responsible for their protection. For a long time, we did not pay much attention to it and considered it natural to exploit marine resources without measure, to let unsafe cargo ships sail in its waters, to build in any way on its coasts… and without thinking about anything else than to take it for a garbage dump. In reality, today we know that the ocean is fragile and that its capacity is not as infinite as it seems.

It is very simple: we need the ocean to live. If we ask too much of it, we risk destroying it. That is why it is so important that we respect it and have a balanced relationship with it. If we exploit its resources reasonably, without plundering it, taking into account its sometimes-changing mood, if we study it carefully and methodically, the ocean can bring us many benefits. Here is a book that will allow you to get to know this silent «blue world»; fascinating and essential for the future of our planet.

I invite everyone to read Matias’ post with the topic of the day.

Finally, I encourage everyone to reflect on the concept of the day. No one else but us can re-signify our own being
